Jazz Cookers to Perform on Sunday, May 20th

On Sunday, May 20th be sure to attend the Denver Jazz Club Session at the Westminster Elks Lodge from 2:00 until 5:00pm! It’s the exciting sounds of the Jazz Cookers. Band members include: Rick Crandell, Cornet; Colton Crandell, Trumpet; Wes Leffingwell, Piano; Dave Ellis, Trombone; Jeff Henton, Tuba; Kevin Matthews, Drums; Madison Munn, Clarinet; and Lance Christensen, Banjo.

The Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars will also perform from 4:00 until 4:20 pm. See you on May 20th!!

Congratulations to our 4 new DJC Youth All-Stars!

Congratulations to the following musicians who have been selected to the Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars: Alec Bell, Cornet (Cherry Creek HS Junior); Josh Emmons, Banjo (Castle View HS Sophomore); Rafael Castillo-Halvorssen, Piano (Fairview HS Junior); and Colton Sparks, Drummer (Evergreen HS Junior). We have students auditioning for the final clarinet vacancy on May 13th. The 5 new musicians, along with our returning players, Rico (Tenor Sax), Cameron (Trombone), and Tim (Tuba), will take over as the new band in August. In the meantime, we will be transitioning and training the new players – you will get to hear these 4 new musicians at the May 20th DJC Session – don’t miss it!

The May/June Denver Jazz Club Newsletter is now available for download. There is info on the May performance of the Jazz Cookers, as well as the Neil Bridge 7+ Band’s June performance.

THERE WILL BE DJC YOUTH ALL-STAR OPENINGS ON CLARINET or SAX/CLARINET, TRUMPET/CORNET, GUITAR/BANJO, PIANO AND DRUMS STARTING IN AUGUST.

WE WILL BE HOLDING AUDITIONS FOR THESE POSITIONS DURING APRIL AND MAY.

The Sunday, April 15th Ron Cope Scholarship Benefit Concert with Four Incredible Bands!

On Sunday, April 15th be sure to attend the Denver Jazz Club Session at the Westminster Elks Lodge from 2:00 until 5:00pm! It’s the annual Ron Cope Scholarship Benefit featuring the Hot Tomatoes Dance Orchestra, the Queen City Jazz Band, the UC Denver Claim Jumpers, and the Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars. They are all wonderful, so don’t miss it! Each of the pro and college bands will perform a set, and the Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars will perform an abbreviated set at 4:00pm.
