THE DJC YOUTH ALL-STARS ARE LOOKING FOR DEDICATED HIGH SCHOOL PIANO AND GUITAR\/BASS\/BANJO PLAYERS, OR HIGH SCHOOL MUSICIANS INTERESTED IN LEARNING HOW TO PLAY BANJO (Professional instrument is free for the selected student, and private lessons are provided with some financial assistance)!<\/strong><\/div>\n

WHEN WILL AUDITIONS TAKE PLACE? Sunday, April 22nd (2:30-4:45pm), at Denver Percussion (7399 S. Tucson Way, Suite B2, Centennial), and additional Sundays until all positions are filled.<\/strong><\/div>\n

WHAT EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED? Some jazz experience is preferred, but not necessary.<\/strong><\/div>\n

MONTHLY CLINICIANS: Professional jazz musicians do clinics from time to time.<\/strong><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

REHEARSALS: Weekly rehearsals take place at Denver Percussion, from 6:15 until 9:00 pm, each Sunday. Some rehearsals will take place earlier on Sundays, when necessary.<\/strong><\/div>\n

PERFORMANCE GIGS? We feature our band during each monthly Denver Jazz Club session, professional jazz festivals, and performance gigs throughout the area. The Youth All-Stars will be performing at the 2018 Evergreen, Denver Vintage, and Sacramento, California Hot Jazz Jubilee Festivals!<\/strong><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
SCHOOL CONFLICTS? No performances or rehearsals conflict with school activities.<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
COST: Each selected student will be required to become a member of the Denver Jazz Club ($10 yearly fee). The monthly dues (4 weekly sessions) run $140, and are payable at the start of each month. Due to the invitation to perform in the 2018 Sacramento, California Hot Jazz Jubilee, over Labor Day Weekend (8\/31\/18-9\/3\/18), each selected student will need to pay their $274 airfare as soon as possible, so the plane tickets can be ordered at this lower fare. The remaining balance of the trip ($331) will be prorated monthly, through July (meals and hotel).<\/strong><\/div>\n

WILL PAID GIGS REDUCE FUTURE TRIP COSTS? Starting on August 1st, any money the band is paid will go towards future trip expenses.<\/strong><\/div>\n
