<\/strong>The Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars are looking for a hard working, dedicated high school jazz pianist who would like to audition for the\u00a0Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars<\/strong>! We are looking for a dedicated Denver metro area high school musician who plays piano.<\/p>\n

The Denver Jazz Club can help out financially, if the need is there – so don’t let the cost keep you from auditioning. My website,\u00a0www.bandresourcesunlimited.com<\/strong>, has audition materials and more information. If you are interested, auditions will take place on Sundays, beginning October 23rd, from 6:15 until 8:45 pm, at Flesher-Hinton Music Store (3936 Tennyson St. in Denver).<\/p>\n

The Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars represented the state as the only Colorado youth band invited to perform at the 2010 and 2011 Sacramento Jazz Jubilees \u2013 the world\u2019s biggest jazz festival!! The band recently returned from a Switzerland performance tour to the Montreux International Jazz Festival!!! The Denver Jazz Club is the main sponsor of this traditional jazz youth all-star band, which was created by retired public school music educator, Dr. Ed Cannava. Ed was the 22 year Director of Arapahoe High School’s three time Downbeat award winning Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Dallas Perrault, Clarinet (Standley Lake HS Senior); Rico Jones, Tenor Sax (Denver School of the Arts 8th Grader); Ben Webb, Cornet (Castle View HS Sophomore); Cameron Gelak, Trombone (Arvada HS Junior); Alex DeVillier, Banjo (Standley Lake HS Senior);\u00a0Rebecca Lugg, Piano (Home Schooled Senior – moving to Georgia); Tim Kloewer, Tuba (Arapahoe HS Junior); and Bobby Ferguson, Drums (Smoky Hill HS Senior).<\/strong><\/p>\n

WHAT EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED?\u00a0Intermediate to Advance<\/em>d\u00a0Jazz experience is necessary.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

MONTHLY CLINICIANS:\u00a0UC-Denver Music<\/em>\u00a0Professor Bill Clark, tuba player with the Queen City Jazz Band, is a regular clinician. Additional professional jazz musicians will be<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0doing clinics from time to time as well.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

REHEARSALS:\u00a0Weekly rehearsals will take place at Flesher-Hinton Music Store, from 6:15 until 8:45 pm,<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0each Sunday. Some holiday weekends and a few other Sundays may need to be skipped,<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0however.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

PERFORMANCE GIGS?\u00a0We feature this all star-band during each monthly Denver Jazz Club session, professional jazz festivals, and performance gigs\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>throughout the area. The Youth All-Stars will be performing at the 2011 Mile High\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>Jazz Festival!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

SCHOOL CONFLICTS?\u00a0The Denver Jazz Club Youth All Stars only agree to do performances that do not<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0conflict with school activities.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

COST:\u00a0Each selected student will be required to become a member of the Denver Jazz Club ($10 yearly\u00a0fee). The monthly dues (4 weekly sessions) run $100, and are payable at the start of each month.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

WILL PAID GIGS REDUCE MONTHLY DUES?\u00a0Any money the band is paid will reduce the next month\u2019s dues, or go towards trip expenses.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/em><\/strong>FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE?\u00a0The Denver Jazz Club does have financial assistance available for<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0students in need.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
