The 2019-20 Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Star Auditions Continue for a Bass, Tuba or Low Brass Player on April 28th!

THE DJC YOUTH ALL-STARS ARE LOOKING FOR A DEDICATED HIGH SCHOOL BASS, TUBA OR LOW BRASS PLAYER!

THE AUDITION MUSIC AND RECORDING HAVE NOW BEEN POSTED AT: http://bandresourcesunlimited.com/downloads/.

WHEN WILL AUDITIONS TAKE PLACE? Sunday, April 28th (2:15-4:45pm), at Denver Percussion (7399 S. Tucson Way, Suite B2, Centennial).

WHAT EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED? Intermediate to advanced jazz experience is preferred.

MONTHLY CLINICIANS: Professional jazz musicians do clinics from time to time.

REHEARSALS: Weekly rehearsals take place at Denver Percussion, from 6:15 until 9:00 pm, each Sunday. Some rehearsals will take place earlier on Sundays, when necessary.

PERFORMANCE GIGS? We feature our band during each monthly Denver Jazz Club session, professional jazz festivals, and performance gigs throughout the area. The Youth All-Stars will be performing at the 2019 Evergreen, Denver Vintage, and Sacramento, California Hot Jazz Jubilee Festivals! We will also be performing on a concert tour to New Orleans during next summer!!

SCHOOL CONFLICTS? No performances or rehearsals conflict with school activities.

COST: Each selected student will be required to become a member of the Denver Jazz Club ($10 yearly fee). The monthly dues (4 weekly sessions) run $140, and are payable at the start of each month. Due to the invitation to perform in the 2019 Sacramento, California Hot Jazz Jubilee, over Labor Day Weekend (8/30/19-9/2/19), each selected student will need to pay their $275 airfare as soon as possible, so the plane tickets can be ordered at this lower fare. The remaining balance of the trip ($150) will be prorated monthly, through July (meals and miscellaneous; lodging will be paid by the festival).

WILL PAID GIGS REDUCE FUTURE TRIP COSTS? Starting on August 1st, any money the band is paid will go towards future trip expenses.

Annual Ron Cope Rent Party Fundraiser with the Hot Tomatoes Dance Orchestra on Sunday, April 14th (1:00-5pm, Westminster Elks Lodge)

On Sunday, April 14th be sure to attend the Denver Jazz Club Session at the Westminster Elks Lodge from 1:00 until 5:00pm! It’s the annual Ron Cope Scholarship Benefit featuring the Hot Tomatoes Dance Orchestra. They are a nine piece big band that specializes in swing, dance music, and big band jazz, at home with music for dancers and listeners, playing everything from R & B to Sinatra. The Ron Cope Scholarship was named for the late pianist and founder of the Hot Tomatoes, Ron Cope (who also led the UCD Claim Jumpers). The Denver Jazz Club is happy to continue this tradition each year with one of Denver’s most popular bands (donating their performance)!

The Claim Jumpers will perform until 2pm, followed by the Hot Tomatoes for the duration of the day. The Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars will perform at approximately 3pm. The session will end with a jam session! It will be a wonderful day of jazz, so don’t miss it! See you on April 14th!!

Note: Because of Easter Sunday, our club date is the Second Sunday of April.
