New Orleans Trumpeter Duke Heitger to be Featured on Sunday, October 18th, at the Denver Jazz Club’s Monthly Session

One of the world’s finest traditional jazz trumpet players, Duke Heitger, will be swinging with the UC Denver Claim Jumpers, Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars, and musicians in the Queen City Jazz Band. Duke has appeared on NPR’s Jim Cullum’s Riverwalk Jazz, and Garrison Kellor’s “A Prairie Home Companion.” Jon Garelick of the Boston Phoenix writes “Heitger has an explosive, ripping trumpet style that’s out of Armstrong by way of Roy Eldridge…and sings with the boozy warmth of Jack Teagarden after hours.” Performances will take place from 1:30 until 5pm, on Sunday, October 18th, at Westminster Elks Club (3850 Elk Drive).
