The January/February Denver Jazz Club Newsletter is now available for download. There is info on the January performance of the Crystal Swing Band, as well as the Denver Jazz Club’s February “Spotlight on Youth Day,” featuring “Fast Eddie” Erickson with the DJC Youth All-Stars, UCD Claim Jumpers, and selected professional musicians. There is also information on our Youth All Stars upcoming performance tour to New Orleans. Columns by Peter Robinson, Ed Danielson, Paul Chamberlin, the “Prez Sez” column, and some fun photos from our December Holiday Potluck Session round out the newsletter.

DJC YOUTH ALL-STARS TO PERFORM AT AVO’S IN FT. COLLINS ON FRI, JAN. 6TH (5:30-7:00 PM)

Be sure to catch the Friday, January 6th joint performance of the Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars and the Poudre River Irregulars at Avo’s (605 S. Mason St.) in Ft. Collins. This is the January Session of the Northern Colorado Traditional Jazz Society, which takes place from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. The DJC Youth All-Stars will perform a set starting at 5:30 pm, followed by a few selections jointly played with the Poudre River Irregulars.

Hot Tomatoes Dance Orchestra Perform at the DJC Sunday, December 18th Holiday Potluck

Be sure to attend the Sunday, December 18th Denver Jazz Club Session at the Westminster Elks Lodge from 2:00 until 5:00pm! The Hot Tomatoes Dance Orchestra will be the performance group. They are fantastic, so don’t miss it! There will also be a performance by our very own Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars at 3:45pm. This is the club’s annual holiday potluck, so everyone is invited to provide an entree, salad, appetizer or dessert to share. Admission is $8.00 per person for this special event.

Your Father’s Mustache Band this Sunday at Westminster Elks Lodge

On Sunday, November 20th be sure to attend the Denver Jazz Club Session at the Westminster Elks Lodge from 2:00 until 5:00pm. It’s the wonderful sounds of Your Father’s Mustache Band!  You’ll hear Joe Petrucelli on banjo; Charlie Smith on trumpet; Gary Buss on reeds; Craig Hugo on trombone; Ray Leake on piano; Roger Johns on bass; Jim Moore on drums; Shelley McMillion on vocals; and Mike Johnson on washboard.

The Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars will also perform from 3:45 until 4:15 pm. They will feature their 2 newest musicians – Matt Guerrero on piano and Mason Stillman on drums. See you on November 20th!!
