The July-August Denver Jazz Club Newsletter is now available for download. There is info on the July performance of the Jazz Cookers, as well as the Denver Jazz Club’s Annual August Potluck Picnic featuring The Leaders Band. There is also information on our Youth All Stars’ recent performance at the 2011 Sacramento Jazz Jubilee. The Evergreen Jazz Festival line up is included as well. Columns by Peter Robinson, Ann Westerberg, the “Prez Sez” column, and news from our event columnist, Walt Hewitt round out a packed two months.

On Sunday, July 17th be sure to attend the Denver Jazz Club Session at the Westminster Elks Lodge from 2:00 until 5:00pm! It’s the exciting sounds of the Jazz Cookers. Band members include: Colton Crandell, Trumpet; Wes Leffingwell, Piano; Dave Ellis, Trombone; Jeff Henton, Tuba; Kevin Matthews, Drums; Madison Munn, Clarinet; and Rick Crandell, Cornet/Manager. The Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars will also perform from 3:45 until 4:15 pm. Both bands will then play a few songs together. See you on July 17th!!

Performance Before Leaving for Europe!!

On Sunday, June 19th be sure to attend the Denver Jazz Club Session at the Westminster Elks Lodge from 2:00 until 5:00pm! It’s the exciting, traditional sounds of clarinetist Vern Baumer’s Mile High Jazz Gathering. Vern has been active on the Denver jazz scene since 1970, when he formed the New Orleans Jazz Gathering. The band will include John Bartman, trumpet; Ed Stephen, guitar; Bill Blackman, bass; and Bill Watkins, drums. There will be a possible special guest as well!

The Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars will be performing one final time, on Sunday, June 12th, at the Bull and Bush Pub (4700 Cherry Creek Drive South, Denver), before they leave for their trip to the Montreux, Switzerland Jazz Festival. They will be performing with Your Father’s Mustache Band from 6:45 until 9:00 pm. Don’t miss it!
