YOUR DENVER JAZZ CLUB YOUTH ALL-STARS HAVE NOW BEEN SELECTED TO THE UMBRIA, ITALY; MONTREUX, SWITZERLAND; AND SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA JAZZ FESTIVALS!!! PERFORMANCES WILL TAKE PLACE THIS SUMMER!!!

Early Bird Tickets are now on sale (through April 30th) for our benefit concert at Ziggies on Sunday, June 9th from 3 until 6pm ($20 Adults; $10 Students; Children under 10 are Free; and Corporate Tables for a max of 10 people cost $400); Regularly Priced Admissions sold after April 30th will cost: $25 Adults; $15 Students; $10 Children under 10; and $500 Corporate Tables for a max of 10 people; and Admissions sold at the door will cost an additional $5. All proceeds will help us meet our goal of performing at the 2013 Montreux, Switzerland International Jazz Festival this coming July! 16 professional musicians will be invited to join the All-Stars for this concert. March 17th Session to feature the Crystal Swing Band and UC Denver Claim Jumpers from 1:30 until 5pm/DJC Youth All-Stars at Bull & Bush (6-9pm)
Be sure to attend the Sunday, March 17th Denver Jazz Club Session at the Westminster Elks Lodge from 2:00 until 5:00pm! The Crystal Swing Band will be the performance group. Current band members include Kristin Anderson-Bohan, drums, leader; Jenny Karel, bass; Del Mollenhauer, piano; Chaz Bowles, trumpet; Rex Spease, alto sax; and Roger Topliff, tenor sax. They are fantastic, so don’t miss it! There will also be a performance by the UC Denver Claim Jumpers at 1:30pm.
Then come on over to the Bull & Bush Pub from 6 until 9pm. The Queen City Jazz Band will be featured along with the Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars!

THE DJC YOUTH ALL-STARS ARE LOOKING FOR DEDICATED, HARD-WORKING, 9TH, 10TH and 11TH GRADE CLARINET, TENOR SAX, TRUMPET, TROMBONE, TUBA OR STRING BASS, AND DRUM SET PLAYERS – THE AUDITION MUSIC AND RECORDING HAVE NOW BEEN POSTED AT: www.bandresourcesunlimited.com.
We have 6 players graduating this year, so we’re looking for replacement 9th, 10th and 11th grade musicians to take their spots.
WHEN WILL AUDITIONS TAKE PLACE? Sundays, April 14th (6:30-9pm), April 21st (11:15am-1:45pm), and April 28th (6:30-9pm), at Flesher-Hinton Music Store (3936 Tennyson St. in Denver).
WHAT EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED? Intermediate to advanced jazz experience is necessary.
MONTHLY CLINICIANS: Retired UC-Denver Music Professor Bill Clark, tuba player/leader of the Queen City Jazz Band, is a regular clinician. Additional professional jazz musicians will be doing clinics from time to time as well.
REHEARSALS: Weekly rehearsals take place at Flesher-Hinton Music Store, from 6:30 until 9:00 pm, each Sunday. Some holiday weekends and a few other Sundays may need to be skipped.
PERFORMANCE GIGS? We feature this all star-band during each monthly Denver Jazz Club sessions, professional jazz festivals, and performance gigs throughout the area. The Youth All-Stars will be performing at the 2013 Montreux (Switzerland), Sacramento, Evergreen and Summit Jazz Festivals! We are hoping to take a national performance tour to NYC during the summer of 2014.
SCHOOL CONFLICTS? The Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars only agree to do performances that do not conflict with school activities.
COST: Each selected student will be required to become a member of the Denver Jazz Club ($10 yearly fee). The monthly dues (4 weekly sessions) run $120, and are payable at the start of each month.
WILL PAID GIGS REDUCE FUTURE TRIP COSTS? Any money the band is paid will go towards future trip expenses.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE? The Denver Jazz Club does have financial assistance available for students who need help with monthly dues and/or private jazz lessons.
