Focus on Youth – Sunday, February 20th w/Ed Metz Jr. on Drums

Be sure to attend the Sunday, February 20th Denver Jazz Club Session at the Westminster Elks Lodge from 2:00 until 5:00pm! The Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars, UC Denver Claim Jumpers and world renown drummer, Ed Metz Jr. will all be featured during our Focus on Youth Session. Bill Clark on tuba and other professional rhythm musicians will also accompany Ed on a set to close out the day. They are terrific, so don’t miss it!

DJC Youth All-Stars Selected to Perform at the 2011 Montreux, Switzerland Jazz Festival

After just one year of existence, the DJC Youth All-Stars have been selected to perform in the 2011 45th Annual Montreux, Switzerland Jazz Festival! They are one of a select number of American school jazz groups invited to perform at Montreux. Last year only 3 American school groups appeared at the Montreux Jazz Festival! The Denver Jazz Club is the main sponsor of our traditional jazz youth all-star band, which was created by music educator, Dr. Ed Cannava.Over the last couple of years such artists as Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Pat Matheny, Phil Collins, Quincy Jones, BB King, and George Benson performed Montreux.

The All-Stars have also been invited to perform at the 19th Annual Montreux Meets Brienz Jazz Festival. If you are interested in donating to the DJC Youth All-Stars, please contact Ed Cannava, Director, at ecan11@msn.com or 303-328-7277.

Holiday Potluck on Sunday, December 19th with The Hot Tomatoes Dance Orchestra

Be sure to attend the Sunday, December 19th Denver Jazz Club Session at the Westminster Elks Lodge from 2:00 until 5:00pm! The Hot Tomatoes Dance Orchestra will be the performance group. They are fantastic, so don’t miss it! There will also be a performance by our very own Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars at 4:00pm. This is the club’s annual holiday potluck, so everyone is invited to provide a dish: an entree, salad, appetizer or dessert to share. Admission is $8.00 per person for this special event.
